Growing and Processing
How We Do It...
We've vertically integrated the process, from growing through to drying, storing and cleaning of the different grains. This gives us control throughout the supply chain, and allows us to offer a complete service with product traceability back to the field.
PLANTING
Our story starts by sowing a range of carfully selected maize and popcorn cultivars into the fertile Hawkes Bay soils.
The specific cultivars have be bread and chosen to offer the best attributes for food manufacturing.
Growing
Our maize and popcorn is grown across the Hawkes Bays by ourselves and a hand full of the regions best growers.

The warm and long summer days provide ideal conditions for growing quality grain with high test densities needed for the food industry.

We have a keen eye for sustainable and good farming practices. This includes the use of minimum tillage techniques like strip till as well as winter cover crops to condition the soil and protect the soil biology.
Harvest
The different crops are harvested and delivered directly to our drying facility, where it is then stored in silos through out the year is safe and controlled conditions.

The harvest starts with the popcorn and is then followed by the maize as autumn sets in.

Care is taken to harvest and handle the grain as gently as possible to reduce the stress and damage to the grain which is important for end quality of the product.
Drying and Storage
Our grains are dried through a batch drying system, which allows for a more slower and gentler drying process. This helps maintain the grains quality and form.

Our large storage facility encompassing over 10 silo's allows us to seperate crops to their specific variety, field or location. This in turn gives us greater quality control and traceability.
Cleaning
Through a state of the art facility, we target the highest level of purity to insure our maize and popcorn reaches and surpassed the levels required for food grade.

Rigorous product testing and sampling is undertaken to ensure all food and health standards are met, as well as monitoring product consistency.
